King’s House further accelerates its transition to co-education to include Years 3, 4 and 5 in September 2025

Building on the success of its already co-ed Nursery, King’s House in Richmond welcomed girls to Reception and Year 1 for the first time last term. In September 2024, they also announced that girls would be able to join at 11+ in September 2025, for Years 7 and 8.

Following this successful start, King’s House is delighted to announce that girls will be able to join Years 3, 4 and 5 (7+, 8+, and 9+) in September 2025. Therefore, entry in all year groups from the Nursery to Year 5, and Year 7, will be co-ed.

This decision has once again been driven by requests from parents and the belief that co-education is the way forward for King’s House, shown in the significant number of pupils who now move onto co-ed senior schools at 11 and 13. This move will make all year groups in the Junior Department (Reception – Year 3) co-educational from September 2025, and build on the strong foundations of the co-ed Reception and Year 1 experience. Over the last few months there has been significant interest from parents of girls who are considering 13+ boarding options at senior schools, and joining King’s House at 11+ allows them to stay at a local day school for Years 7 and 8.

Excellent pastoral care and a nurturing environment are at the heart of the school’s community, and staff have been working across different areas to prepare the Senior Department for girls, including facilities, future schools, curriculum, pastoral care and sport. Helen Lowe continues to support the school in these areas, as well as in building relationships with girls’ senior schools. King’s House works closely with families to find the right senior school for each child, and ensures a broad and balanced curriculum continues throughout their school journey.
