Entry to King’s House School

There are two main points of entry into the School; the Nursery Department, and Reception in the Junior Department.

The process for applying to each of these year groups is slightly different, and a brief outline is given below. Further information can be found in our Admissions Policy.

Entry to the Nursery

Applications for Nursery places can be made at any time from birth onwards and all applicants will be placed on a waiting list. Girls and boys may start in the Nursery in the term of their 3rd birthday. Nursery places are offered in order of date of registration, approximately 2 terms before entry.

Entry to Reception

We are happy to accept applications well in advance of the deadline, although there is no preference given to those applying early. Boys from the Nursery are given priority in our Reception classes and are expected to stay at King’s House until the end of Year 8, before moving on to their senior school.

Reception places are offered approximately one year before entry. Parents who take up the offer of a place are required to complete an Acceptance Contract and pay a committal fee, which will be returned when their child leaves King’s House, less any extras.

We are a mixed-ability School and do not formally assess the boys before offering them a place in Reception. Half of our Reception intake is made up of boys coming from our Nursery.

Other Intakes

We also have small intakes at 7+, 8+ and 11+ into Years 3, 4 and 7 (usually up to approximately 6 places). Boys wishing to enter at this stage are assessed in English and Maths in either November or January, and then interviewed prior to entry.

There are occasionally places available at other stages so please feel free to contact our Registrar via the link below or on 020 8940 1878
