Welcome from the Head

Mark Turner, Head of KHS, stands on the steps outside the Senior Department.

At King’s House we take pride in offering each child a high-quality, broad academic and co-curricular education, allowing children to develop the skills and mental resilience needed to succeed in their next steps in life. Established in 1946, KHS fosters a lifelong love of learning in a caring and supportive environment, where children feel secure and able to flourish.

Pupils have the opportunity to take part and develop in all areas of school life, so that the needs of each individual are truly catered for, including benefitting from the first class facilities at our 35-acre Sports Ground in Chiswick. We are independent of any senior school and proud of the wide range of schools that our pupils go on to, with many achieving scholarships.

The school moved to co-education in September 2024 building on the success of our already co-ed Nursery, and we now have girls in six year groups up to Year 4, with more entry points to come for girls starting in September 2026.

We hope you’ll find the website helpful in finding out more about us, and look forward to meeting you soon.

From the teacher’s genuine smiles that greet you at the start of the day to the beaming smile from my daughter upon pick up every single day, I am delighted to have found what I believe is the best nursery in Richmond. Underpinning it all is a very clear outline for gentle yet structured learning objectives and a team that is wholly on board to provide your child with the best possible care and attention.

Our Transition to Co-Ed

We moved to co-ed in September 2024 as girls joined Reception and Year 1 for the first time.

In September 2025, we had co-educational cohorts in over half of our year groups across the school.

Looking ahead towards September 2026, we will have a fully co-educational Nursery and Junior Department, as well as co-ed year groups in some years in our Senior Department.
