About Us

King’s House School was founded in 1946 and has since grown to a prep school of over 400 children across our Nursery, Junior and Senior Department, with children ranging from the ages of 2 through to 13 years.

We are proud of the breadth of our curriculum: the broad and balanced all-round education at King’s House provides children with the skills and resilience to succeed in their next steps in life. With specialist subjects starting in Nursery such as French, Drama, Music and Computing, creativity runs through everything we do and opportunity is everywhere — on the pitch, on the stage, in the classroom, and beyond.

We are a mixed ability school, catering to every pupils unique needs. Each pupil is encouraged to discover their talents and passions, be it on the sports field, performing on stage, in the classroom or much more, with support and encouragement from our King’s House community.

Our 35-acre Sports Ground in Chiswick is enjoying by all King’s House children — whether that be by our youngest learners visiting Forest School, or our older children who enjoy our sports facilities for games, PE lessons and sports fixtures.

King’s House pupils go on to a wide range of senior schools including day, boarding, single sex and co-ed schools at 11 and 13 years. We work closely with families as children progress throughout the school to make sure each child goes on to the right senior school for them.

From the teacher’s genuine smiles that greet you at the start of the day to the beaming smile from my daughter upon pick up every single day, I am delighted to have found what I believe is the best nursery in Richmond. Underpinning it all is a very clear outline for gentle yet structured learning objectives and a team that is wholly on board to provide your child with the best possible care and attention.

It’s an excellent school and we are delighted. The pupils are cared for, encouraged and very happy. It has exceeded our expectations and we couldn’t be more grateful.

King’s House Nursery has been an outstanding choice for our child’s early education. The well-structured curriculum balances play-based learning with developmental milestones perfectly, while the caring and supportive staff create a nurturing environment where every child feels valued. We’ve been particularly impressed by the low staff-to-student ratio, which ensures our child receives individual attention and support throughout the day.

Our child enjoys coming to school and feels encouraged to try their best and that, above all, speaks volumes about the positive impact King’s House School has on their pupils.
