Welcome to King's House Nursery

A private pre-school and educational nursery in Richmond for children aged 3 – 4

Welcome from the Head of Nursery

Nestled in the Alberts, in the heart of the community in Richmond, at King’s House Nursery you will find an oasis of warmth, laughter and a wealth of resources to inspire little minds and create a love of learning. Children flourish in a safe and nurturing environment, and are proud of our happy and thoughtful children who respect each other and the wonderful surroundings they share.

We are an educational nursery where children are taught and supported by a team of highly experienced staff. They join our Hedgehog Class as rising 3s, and move up to either Squirrels or Rabbits Pre-School Class as rising 4s.

We are delighted that from September 2024 our girls will be able to continue their journey at King’s House, as the School transitions to co-education, and I hope you will visit us to discover more about our Nursery.

Our Nursery Classes

Our 3 classes at King’s House Nursery follow the EYFS Curriculum; in Hedgehogs, our youngest children settle into Nursery life and develop key social skills. In our two pre-school Classes, Squirrels and Rabbits, children get ready for starting school with more specialist teaching.

Our Vision

  • To ensure every child feels nurtured and supported from their very first day at King’s House.
  • To value each child as an individual, recognising their individuality, efforts and achievements.
  • To provide a high quality Early Years’ experience that provides firm foundations on which to build future social, emotional and academic success for the perfect start to their educational journey.
  • To ensure a strong trusting relationship between home and school, and the links we build with King’s House School to support a smooth transition to the King’s House School Junior Department.
  • To not stand still, always move forward with new ideas and initiatives to ensure the children have the very best education at King’s House Nursery. We achieve this through a broad curriculum filled with educational lessons, creative play and specialist lessons such as PE, French, Forest School and Drama, to prepare children for their future years of learning at King’s House.
  • To ensure we create an environment where we respect each other’s feelings, ideas, culture and experiences.

Welcome from the Head of King’s House School

As Head of King’s House School, I would like to add my welcome to King’s House Nursery.

Our Nursery is an integral part of King’s House School, sharing the values of a broad and balanced all-round education that run through the school. The breadth and balance of education on offer at all stages of King’s House is one of our greatest strengths. The team of dedicated Early Years specialist staff know and understand the needs of each child, working alongside the school’s specialist teachers in Music, Drama, Computing, French and PE.

As a school community, each year we support a charity chosen by the pupils and take part in fundraising activities, and were recently awarded our Eco-Schools Green Flag again. You can read more about our ‘Excellent’ ISI report, IQM Inclusive School Award, and much more that talk about the brilliant work in the Nursery.

As they come to the end of their time in Nursery the children are prepared for the move to Reception, and we’re so excited that the girls are now able to stay with us as the cohort moves in Reception and school life.

I invite you to explore the Nursery section of our website and learn more about the exceptional experience and opportunities that await your child.

Visit King's House

We’d love to meet you to show you what life is like in the Nursery. Our experienced staff team help children to become independent, learning key communication skills through a combination of child and adult-led teaching. Specialist teaching from school staff enhances their experience, becoming school-ready by the time they move on to Reception.

Pupils across the school demonstrate a well-established sense of social responsibility and carry out leadership and teamwork roles with confidence and aplomb.

Refreshingly normal in this often competitive and frenetic world, King’s House is a successful school with a clear sense of purpose. No hot-house, but a friendly school where happy children do well and with exciting developments in the pipeline.

Amazing staff that truly care about my daughter’s wellbeing and development. I love that my daughter runs to the front door every morning itching to get to nursery. She loves her teachers and enjoys taking part in daily activities like planting sunflowers and dancing and singing to nursery rhymes. King’s House is a happy nursery that nurtures their pupils.
