About Us

Welcome to King’s House Nursery, an educational nursery and pre-school nestled in the Alberts in Richmond.

We opened in January 2009, and are located in a spacious Victorian building just around the corner from King’s House School.

Our aim is to introduce children to the exciting world of learning in a safe, secure and stimulating environment. We work hard to ensure that all our children become confident little learners, with an understanding of kindness and courtesy, enjoying the happiness which comes from strong friendships and respect for each other.

Children can join us in Caterpillar Class (for children aged 3) or in Butterfly Class (for children aged 4). Our team of experienced staff help children to become independent, feel confident in a group environment and be kind and thoughtful to others. As they move into Butterflies more specialist teaching is introduced, gaining the skills they need to move on to Reception. All our boys can automatically transition into King’s House School.

We are very much part of the King’s House School community and benefit from using their facilities and specialist teachers for French, Music, Drama, IT and PE. As a school community, each year we support a charity chosen by the pupils and take part in fundraising activities. King’s House was also recently awarded its Eco-Schools Green Flag, and in the Nursery we learn about respecting our environment: the children love growing sunflowers and caring for plants.

Our boys and girls move on from King’s House Nursery prepared for their next steps in life as curious, independent little learners.

Our Vision

  • To ensure every child feels nurtured and supported from their very first day
  • To value each child as an individual, recognising their individuality, efforts and achievements
  • To provide a high quality Early Years’ experience that provides firm foundations on which to build future social, emotional and academic success
  • To ensure a strong trusting relationship between home and school and the links we build with future schools
  • To not stand still, always move forward with new ideas and initiatives to ensure the children have the very best education and Nursery experience.
  • To ensure we are environment where we respect each other’s feelings, ideas, culture and experiences.

Welcome from the Head

As Head of King’s House School, I would like to add my welcome to King’s House Nursery.

What better way could there be for your child to start their education than as a Caterpillar who grows into a Butterfly and then spreads their wings to fly off to Reception?

Our Nursery is an integral part of King’s House School, sharing the values of a broad and balanced all-round education that run through the school. The breadth and balance of education on offer at all stages of King’s House is one of our greatest strengths.

Our Nursery has its own team of dedicated Early Years specialist staff, who know and understand the needs of the children perfectly. As a valued part of our whole school community our Nursery children benefit from regular specialist lessons with staff who work in the Junior and Senior Departments in Music, Drama, Computing, French and PE.

And, as they come to the end of their time in Nursery the children are prepared for that move to Reception. The boys move seamlessly to our Junior Department, whilst the girls move on to a range of very strong schools.

I invite you to explore the Nursery section of our website and learn more about the exceptional experience and opportunities that await your child.
