About Us
Welcome to King’s House Nursery, an educational nursery and pre-school nestled in the Alberts in Richmond.
We opened in January 2009, and are located in a spacious Victorian building just around the corner from King’s House School.
Our aim is to introduce children to the exciting world of learning in a safe, secure and stimulating environment. We work hard to ensure that all our children become confident little learners, with an understanding of kindness and courtesy, enjoying the happiness which comes from strong friendships and respect for each other.
Children can join us in Caterpillar Class (for children aged 3) or in Butterfly Class (for children aged 4). Our team of experienced staff help children to become independent, feel confident in a group environment and be kind and thoughtful to others. As they move into Butterflies more specialist teaching is introduced, gaining the skills they need to move on to Reception. We are so excited that from September 2024, our girls will be able to stay on at King’s House School for the first time as we move to full co-education. All children are automatically offered a place in Reception.
We are very much part of the King’s House School community and benefit from using their facilities and specialist teachers for French, Music, Drama, IT and PE. As a school community, each year we support a charity chosen by the pupils and take part in fundraising activities. King’s House was also recently awarded its Eco-Schools Green Flag, and in the Nursery we learn about respecting our environment: the children love growing sunflowers and caring for plants. In November 2023 King’s House was awarded the IQM’s (Inclusion Quality Mark) Inclusive School Award, which recognises a school’s ongoing commitment to providing the very best education for all pupils.
Our children move on from King’s House Nursery prepared for their next steps in life as curious, independent little learners.

Welcome from the Head
As Head of King’s House School, I would like to add my welcome to King’s House Nursery.
What better way could there be for your child to start their education than as a Caterpillar who grows into a Butterfly and then spreads their wings to fly off to Reception?
Our Nursery is an integral part of King’s House School, sharing the values of a broad and balanced all-round education that run through the school. The breadth and balance of education on offer at all stages of King’s House is one of our greatest strengths.
Our Nursery has its own team of dedicated Early Years specialist staff, who know and understand the needs of the children perfectly. As a valued part of our whole school community our Nursery children benefit from regular specialist lessons with staff who work in the Junior and Senior Departments in Music, Drama, Computing, French and PE.
And, as they come to the end of their time in Nursery the children are prepared for that move to Reception. We are delighted that from September 2024 both girls and boys will be able to stay on for Reception, as we transition to full co-education.
I invite you to explore the Nursery section of our website and learn more about the exceptional experience and opportunities that await your child.
