Our Nursery Environment

Our Classrooms

On the first floor of The Old School House you will find Hedgehogs Class in their own homely, cosy and welcoming room. The room is carefully planned and extensively resourced to provide an exciting environment where young children can use their imagination to create and discover. Hedgehogs have their own soft play equipment, which is a very popular feature.

On the ground floor you will find Squirrels and Rabbits each with their own spacious classroom, divided into inspiring learning spaces. Each area is carefully planned to create an environment where children can explore and investigate with confidence. Adjacent to both classes is the Woodland Library, used for specialist teaching and quiet play.

Outdoor Learning Space

The Nursery benefits from two outdoor playgrounds where children can extend their learning on the climbing frames, in the playhouse or wooden train, on trikes or scooters, or on any of the balancing equipment available. Both playgrounds have been recently redeveloped with Natural Playscapes, and now include a lovely reading nook, climbing frame, covered sandpit and planters. When the weather permits, classroom equipment is rolled outside and learning continues indoors and outdoors.

Squirrels and Rabbits also have the benefit of using The Nest at King’s House Sports Ground, our recently completed Forest School space.

In addition to our own outstanding provision, we are able to benefit from the facilities and resources of King’s House School. Hedgehogs enjoys specialist music teaching, and the Pre-Reception Classes from Music, PE, French and drama teachers from the Junior and Senior Departments who are timetabled to the Nursery each week.
