World Book Day Celebrations

This week we have loved celebrating World Book Day! The Nursery have Junior Department have dressed up as their favourite book characters, and we’ve been wowed by their amazing costumes.

Illustrator Lisa Read visited the Nursery and Reception to read the beautiful books she’s written, ‘Frederick the Fox’ and ‘Maximus the Mouse’. The Juniors were also visited by author and illustrator Jane Porter, and in workshops they learnt about non-fiction books and then wrote their own frog file.

Earlier this week Years 3 to 6 were also visited by Louie Stowell, author of the ‘Loki’ series. The boys loved hearing all about how she writes and illustrates her books, and there is now a brilliant piece of Loki inspired artwork created by some pupils and Louie on Miss Jones’ classroom wall.

Over the last few weeks pupils have been submitting their entries for the extreme reading competition, and the winners for each year group were announced in assembly on World Book Day. We saw lots of books being read on the slops, up in trees and around London!

Senior Department pupils visited the Nursery and Juniors on World Book Day for buddy reading, and it was lovely to see our oldest and youngest pupils together.
