Art
Our dedicated Art Room is fully equipped for the boys to develop their creativity, exploring a number of different mediums such as ceramics, printmaking, sculpture, mixed media, drawing, painting and digital media-using graphic software.
We celebrate their work throughout the year with whole school exhibitions and art competitions, and a number of boys regularly win art awards to a variety of senior schools.
DT
The Design Technology Suite is the perfect place to devise brilliant ideas and turn them into reality. We have the tools for the boys to problem-solve and build their projects with engineering, graphics, systems and controls and textiles.
While doing so, they are encouraged to reflect on the impact that their designs and they themselves, as consumers, have on the wider world and environment.
PE & Outside Space
In addition to our own extensive King’s House Sports Ground in Chiswick, we are fortunate to have a Sports Hall – with climbing wall, Astro-turf pitch and three big outdoor play areas at the School itself.
Boys in every year enjoy a number of sports and PE lessons here. They can also play with their friends and expend lots of energy during break times!
Both the Junior and Senior Departments benefit from outdoor woodland climbing and exploration areas.

Theatre
Our Drama Department benefits from having a first class theatre with well stocked prop and costume stores, ensuring each show is granted a professional feel. We put on frequent and popular school performances, which include radio plays, Shakespeare, puppetry and comedy cabaret, to name but a few. With all this on offer, there really is an opportunity for every boy to enjoy Drama and shine.
The Theatre is also used for LAMDA showcases and school assemblies.
Junior Department
King’s House Junior Department is housed in two beautiful Victorian buildings which have been sensitively extended and enhanced to provide a wonderful learning environment.
The boys are based in their classrooms with their teacher and assistant for most of the time, but also have specialist teachers for French, Music, PE and Computing. The classrooms are bright and well equipped with networked computers, an interactive whiteboard and outdoor area.
The Department has its own Hall, Library and Computer Suite, while the Food Technology Room offers opportunities for the boys to develop their culinary skills whilst learning about healthy eating.
The Junior School Music Room boasts comprehensive sets of class percussion, ukuleles and two teaching spaces for individual music lessons where we have a team of 14 specialist music teachers offering lessons on piano, violin, cello, flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, french horn, drums, acoustic guitar and classical guitar.
Outdoors we have a wonderful, spacious playground where the boys enjoy a nature area, astro football pitch, basketball, climbing frame, water wall, trim trail, swings, shady areas for quiet activities, sand pit and bicycle track. There is also a large astro space for PE lessons.
Music
In the Senior Department, our Music Department comprises a spacious Music Room plus four other designated rooms for individual music lessons.
Our musical instruments include equipment for rock bands, keyboards for each class, ukuleles and African djembe drums, along with a wide selection of tuned percussion instruments, both hand-held and acoustic drum kits.
A set of iPads are set up with GarageBand and other specialist music apps, and the boys enjoy using our recording equipment for films and sound.

Computing
We have two dedicated Computer Suites and all boys use Chromebooks and iPads.
All our classrooms are equipped with interactive whiteboards and televisions in order to provide the boys with a comprehensive, all-round technological education and ensure they are digitally literate.
The boys learn coding skills and logical thinking, and use G Suite and Google Classroom, plus audio and video recording hardware and software.
Dining Hall
The boys enjoy lunch in our Dining Hall where delicious meals are cooked on the premises with fresh and environmentally sustainable ingredients.
Our menus foster communal eating and we encourage positive food choices at school and at every life stage. A particular favourite among the boys is fish and chips on Fridays.
Sports Ground
Our 35 acre sports ground down in Chiswick is absolutely outstanding: we are so lucky to have this facility. The boys are incredibly well catered for and we can do everything that we need to do as teachers to make sure that they have the best experience possible.
On the site, we have eight full-size grass football pitches, four 9 a side football pitches, 6 junior football pitches, two full size grass rugby pitches, four cricket squares, four cricket nets, six tennis courts and a 3G astro pitch, which can house rugby or football as needed. We also have an athletics track including areas for high jump, long jump and shot putt.
Games lessons take place here each week for pupils in Years 1 to 8 and they are brought from school to the ground in coaches and minibuses.
In the last 12 months, we’ve had alumni who have made their professional debuts, in football for AFC Wimbledon and in rugby for Harlequins. It’s a huge inspiration for the boys who are here to see what they can achieve once they leave us.
Swimming is also a big part of our sporting life at King’s House. There is a weekly after-school club and the boys do incredibly well. We are currently the borough champions in Richmond and we also had the fastest Under-11 relay team in the country last year.
The boys also get the chance to represent the school in cross-country and in athletics.
Overview
King’s House Nursery is located in a spacious Victorian building called The Old School House, which is just around the corner from King’s House School. It enjoys bright, light, airy classrooms and open spaces that are homely and welcoming, providing a stimulating and exciting place for the children to be.
On the first floor of The Old School House, you will find the Caterpillar group in a room that is carefully planned and extensively resourced to provide a wonderful environment where young girls and boys can use their imagination to create and discover. The Caterpillar group also have their own soft play equipment, which is a very popular feature.
On the ground floor you will find the Butterfly group, with two spacious classrooms neatly divided into inspiring learning spaces. Each area is carefully planned to create an area where children can explore and investigate with confidence.
The Nursery also has two outdoor playgrounds where the children can extend their learning on the climbing frames, in the playhouse or wooden train, on trikes or scooters or on any of the balancing equipment available. When the weather permits, classroom equipment is rolled outside and learning continues indoors and outdoors, in fact in every corner of the Nursery classrooms and playgrounds!
In addition to our own outstanding provision, we also benefit from the facilities and resources of King’s House School.
