Last week our Senior Department boys celebrated ‘Shakespeare Week’ during their English lessons. The idea was for the boys to learn the basic plot of The Tempest and embody the main characters in the drama activity. Then, to appreciate some of Shakespeare’s poetry, they wrote cinquains to celebrate being true to themselves.
During their drama section, our Year 5 boys enjoyed playing the various roles from The Tempest including:
- Ariel: an airy sprite (fairy)
- Caliban: half-human, half-monster, a native of the island
- Prospero and baby Miranda: Duke of Milan, sorcerer, shipwrecked on the island
