Over the last couple of weeks, we have been very lucky to have a virtual visit from Peter Cowley. Peter has discussed Esafety issues with some parents and boys from years 6-8. I hope that those parents that attended found it useful. For those that were not able to attend, you will find a link to the slides we used here
One thing that resonated with me and I know is a very current issue, is the monitoring of your son’s devices. The advice would be, to ensure your son knows that it is really healthy for them to have their phone checked by you regularly. This is to keep them safe, help them deal with any issues they may currently have and be aware of the content within their chat. Checking it together can be a really positive experience that gives you an avenue to open up channels of discussion on any issues your son may have; it also keeps you informed of the latest apps and trends.
Following the talks around digital safety, boys in Year 6, 7 and 8 will have been given a trophy kit from Google’s Be Internet Legends. Head over to g.co/BuildYourLegend to take the quiz as a family to get the instructions to build your own Internet Legend trophy! Once completed, you can head over to their Parent’s for more information, or you can personalise your virtual trophy. Be sure to post your completed trophy on Twitter tagging @KingsHouseSch and #beinternetlegends. Every tweeted completed trophy will gain 2 distinctions!
