Surgeon visits Year 1
Year 1 boys at King’s House were treated to a wonderful visit by Jacob’s mum, Dr Alice Tsai.
Alice brought a model of the upper part of the body, with nice ‘squidgy’ organs, such as the liver, stomach and intestines. The boys were fascinated by the actual length of the large and small intestines. They loved taking the organs out, feeling them and learning how to put them back. The boys had an opportunity to use some ‘proper’ medical instruments and pretend to perform real operations.
They had a chance to handle some of the actual instruments that are used for key hole surgery and they listened with real interest to how that type of surgery is performed.
