We invite you to view details of our proposed redevelopment of the Senior Department (66-68 King’s Road).
The proposal includes a new specialist teaching building, to be situated adjacent to the existing buildings. Navigation and accessibility issues will be improved by creating a new collegiate courtyard at the heart of the school.
A new performing arts centre, an octagonal building at one corner of the courtyard, will provide drama facilities, bespoke practice rooms for individual music lessons and an open-plan space at the top for teaching and intimate music and drama performances, with views into the tree canopy. The current Theatre will be refurbished, extended and will link into the new building.
Behind this, a new block will be erected, consisting of six general teaching classrooms. There are associated areas for staff, storage and services, which will support the running of the building.
This proposal also includes a greatly enhanced landscaping plan introducing native wildflower, shrub and tree planting, as well as flexible play space and outdoor learning environments.
The construction process will be subject to the strict regulations designed to minimise disruption to neighbouring properties, staff and pupils.
The project will be phased to ensure the school can continue to operate as normal. Significant works will be undertaken during summer holidays to minimise traffic disruption.
King’s House School is delighted in February 2022 that planning permission was granted. You can read more about this here. More information will be updated on plans for the build in due course.
