Opening of the Alivera Centre in Rwanda

King’s House has been  involved with the charity Rwanda Action for many years now, and teams of staff from King’s House have been out on many occasions to support its projects including the school, King’s House Cyato, the centre for children with disabilities and the Street Children’s centre, now called the Social Care Centre for vulnerable children.

We have previously fundraised for the Alivera Village in Ntendezi. The village has a workshop, café and shop, enabling young people with disabilities to gain work experience and skills to help them find jobs when they leave school. This week was the grand opening of the Alivera Centre and the drummers from the street children project came to play the drums. We were delighted to see they were all in King’s House t-shirts that we had taken out on our last trip before Covid. They were all donated back to us after our fund raiser Rave for Rwanda. We are looking forward to fundraising for projects over the next year, and hopefully visiting for the first time since Covid.
