IAPS Football Nationals
Huge congratulations to the 1st XI Football Team who finished 3rd in the IAPS 7-a-side National Finals!
They travelled to Culford School in Ipswich after qualifying back in the September. The boys arrived at school at 6am – it was dark and wet but they were very committed!
There were 4 groups of 5 teams who all qualified after playing in different qualifiers across the country. The boys played 4 games in their group, winning 1 and drawing 3 and only conceding 2 goals in the process. They finished second in the group and qualified for the cup competition (only the top 8 teams qualified for this).
They played Bede’s school in the quarter final, and beat them playing some amazing football – George G also pulled off three amazing saves.
In the semi-final the boys played Lochinver House, losing 2-1 in a very close game. Lochinver ended up losing on penalties in the final. The boys were disappointed but picked themselves up for the 3rd place playoff match against Ludgrove – the group game had been a draw.
The playoff was won comfortably by King’s House, and the boys left Culford knowing they were the 3rd best 7-a-side team in the country!
Well done boys!
