Last half term all pupils from Year 2 to 8 took part in the Bebras Computing Challenge. This is our third time entering, and the challenge tests boys on their logical thinking and methods that would be used whilst coding. It is a fun challenge to motivate the boys in computing, with similar questions the newsletter computing challenge.
The boys competed in age categories, and congratulations to Jude who had the best score in the Year 2 and 3 category. Our best score in Year 3 was tied by Kostya and Leo. Mateo and Charles were joint for the best score in the Year 4 and 5 category. Henry achieved the best score in the Year 6 and 7 category, and the top score in Year 6 was Joe. Our top score in the Year 8 category was from Angus. Well done boys!
Students who score in the top 10% of the country within their categories are awarded a Gold Award, and are also put forward for the Oxford University Computing Challenge. This year saw our highest number of boys achieve this so far. Well done to all the boys who achieve a Gold Award!
Several boys also entered in the age category above them, and so huge congratulations to Magnus, Max, Henry, Ru, Bradley and Freddie who achieved those Gold Awards. A really great achievement by them, they should be so proud of themselves!
The OUCC has been running this week and we wait to hear back on the scores, with the top 10% of scorers in this challenge being invited for the next round of the competition. Fingers crossed!
Please do take a look at the computing challenges and ask your sons to enter!
